What is massage?

Therapeutic massage is a centuries old remedy and health practice, it is found in all major civilizations past and present. Today there are over two hundred recognized massage modalities, yet they all address body and mind issues such as stress and tension, and some focus on the flow of bioelectric energy that surrounds and flows through the body. The main goals of massage are improving the tone of muscles and soft tissue, loosening adhesions and restrictions, and supporting the body's natural ability toward healing and balanced movement.

Communication is key:

You should feel that you can discuss any aspect of your massage with your therapist, including any concerns you may have. Your goal determines the style of the massage. Are you here to get a break from routine? Are you training for a marathon? Are you tired of back pain or headaches? Have you had an injury that affects the way you move? Please let us know any concerns no matter how trivial you may think it is. Will massage be painful? Do I have to talk? What should I wear? What parts of my body are massaged? What kind of music do I want played?
